  • Get your grey cells ticking; ignite new ideas and create a design that reflects the brand identity and keeps the new car to be launched by ŠKODA AUTO India a mystery.
  • Making eye-dazzling patterns to discern distinguishing details.

A design contest to get the best out of the best!

The winning design will be used on the upcoming ŠKODA car. The winner will get a chance to travel to Prague, the head-quarters of ŠKODA and meet Mr. Oliver Stefani, Head of Design.
The runner–up will win a design tablet and the next 3 shortlisted entries will be awarded ŠKODA gift bags.
Top 5 shortlisted designs to be announced on official social media platforms of ŠKODA AUTO India.

ŠKODA Design Language

Over the last few years, our design language became more modern and eye-catching. We combined our brand’s strongest assets as well as other strong, positive inspiring associations to shape our Unique Brand DNA - Bohemian Crystal. At ŠKODA AUTO, we are passionate about heritage, functional technologies and unique design language, easily recognizable from the other brands. These are the attributes that drive us every day. Requirements

  1. 2D (and possibly 3D) visuals on concept level (visual of application on car, flat pattern).
  2. Show examples of application.
  3. The person should be experienced in graphical solutions.
  4. The camouflage has to fulfil its function – maintain secrecy of the car with relevant design cues.
  5. Format of submission - JPEG file in 1:1 orientation. (1200 x 1200 pixels size, minimum 300 DPI).
  6. Format of submission upon selection: Winning candidates will required to submit the open files of the graphic in ai/eps/cdr format only within 48 hours of contact. The artwork should be made in 1200 x 1200 pixels size, minimum 300 DPI.
  7. Please do not watermark or superimpose any logos/names/images of the designer or studio. The presentation board needs to be anonymous.

Target

We are looking for creative inspiration/support in preparing the camouflage of the upcoming sedan from ŠKODA AUTO India. The contestant should be eligible and fulfil our requirements based on the given parameters. The target is to create a camouflage for the new sedan before its name reveal and build an affinity for the brand and the upcoming product. ŠKODA AUTO India would like to present the brand values in an interesting and fresh manner, however, still in line with the direction of a brand that has a “Human Touch".

The inspiration for the new design concept is

  1. Applying colours and motifs from rich Indian culture.
  2. Translate/incorporate the ŠKODA design language into the proposal.
  3. Modern graphic art/pop art.
  4. Not obligatory to include the essentials of the Czech design, but contestants can also take inspiration from Bohemian glass art, Czech cubism, design and architecture.

How will you be judged

The evaluation process is based on various judging criteria which are constantly adapted to new creative, technical, social and economic requirements. These criteria are not comprehensive and not all criteria are applicable to each design. They simply provide an orientation framework and basis for judging, which is complemented by each individual juror's expertise and professional background.

Dazzle Camouflage in the First World War

The idea of camouflage was implemented in the First World War by Norman Wilkinson British artist and marine painter. The goal of the illusory painting was to avoid the torpedo hits by confusing the attacker. On the painted boats the measurement points were not easy to find, neither to calculate the right angle.
